1. The Client Service Assistant

The Client Service Assistant at JADASA provides support with advocacy, referrals, survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and commercial sex exploitation. This position is responsible for assisting with hotline crisis, crisis intervention, outreach, and education.  Assist with the setup of support group sessions for survivors and outreach events.  The assistant collaborates with other domestic violence and sexual assault agencies to ensure a seamless response to survivors’ needs. The position reports directly to the Executive Director.

Mission: JADASA is a 501c3 community-based nonprofit that provides anti-violence education, workshops, and services to women, girls, and their families.

 

Client Services Assistant Job Responsibilities:

  • Answer phones and direct callers to the proper personnel.

  • Manage front office.

  • Maintain office files, typing and filing necessary documents/paperwork; ordering supplies

  • Assist with domestic violence and sexual assault outreach and education.

  • Assist with face-to-face as well as online crisis intervention.

  • Coordinates and assists clients with social services and networks with other agencies to ensure needed social services with information and referrals are needed.

  • Provides emergency telephone crisis intervention, resources, and referrals.

  • Assist with follow-up services, filing, and reporting procedures.

  • Assist with setting up training for workshops and assistance with support groups

  • Maintain client files, progress notes, and data entry and paperwork to meet contract requirements.

  • Network with other providers to help survivors access community resources.

  • Participate and assist with outreach events.

  • Assist with fundraising and marketing materials

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Client Service Assistant Qualifications/Skills:

  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.

  • Minimum one year of paid experience working with survivors of Domestic Violence

  • The ability to multi-task

  • Demonstrated organizational and outreach skills 

  • Good verbal and written skills.

  • Missouri or Illinois State driver's license and insurance are required upon employment; one must be able to travel independently to outreach events if warranted.

 

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements

  • Associate Degree; or one year of domestic violence experience in an operational environment.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

  • Must complete training in the Dynamics of Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse 101; Understanding Trauma & Sexual Assault or agree to complete within 3 months of hire if there is no former training. 

  • Background check completed

 

Working Conditions

Work Hours: Salaried: 34 Hours/Week: Tuesday -Friday; 9:00 am to 6:00 pm; (2) Saturdays a month, 9:00a – 1:00 pm.

Off Sundays and Mondays.

1-week paid vacation after one year

Office shutdown between Christmas and New Year’s (with pay).

 

Salary:  Commensurate with experience

2. Client Service Advocate/Trainer

The Client Service Advocate/Trainer at JADASA provides support, advocacy, referral, and assistance to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and commercial sex exploitation. This position is responsible for crisis intervention, safety planning, outreach and education, and planning and facilitating support group sessions for survivors. Other key duties include fundraising, marketing, and community outreach. The advocate works collaboratively with other domestic violence sexual assault agencies to ensure a seamless response to survivors’ needs. The position reports directly to the Executive Director.

Client Services Advocate/Trainer Job Responsibilities:

 • Conducts domestic violence and sexual assault outreach and education.

• Client intake interviews, face-to-face as well as online crisis intervention, via chat room and zoom.

• Coordinates and assists clients with social services and networks with other agencies to ensure needed social services with information and referrals are needed.

• Acts as liaison with utilities, mortgage, and living arrangements. • Provide emergency legal advocacy services for safety planning, safe escapes, and court preparation.

• Provides emergency telephone crisis intervention, resources, and referrals.

• Client intake for personal advocacy and follow-up services; Filing and reporting procedures.

• Facilitation of training for workshops and assistance with support groups

• Maintain accurate files, progress notes, and data entry, and submit information for timely reporting and paperwork to meet contract requirements.

• Network with other providers to help survivors access community resources.

• Participate and assist with outreach events.

• Other duties as assigned.

 

Client Service Advocate/Trainer Qualifications / Skills:

• Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.

• Minimum two years of paid experience working with survivors of Domestic Violence 

• Completion of a minimum of 20 to 30 hours of training in domestic violence and sexual assault and continuing education required.

• Demonstrated track record in advocacy, with the ability to navigate systems to ensure seamless services. 

• Demonstrated respect for others’ experiences, opinions, language, values, culture, and knowledge 

• Experience working with culturally diverse populations.

• Ability to navigate and handle complicated situations

• Desire to empower families from diverse cultures and backgrounds and to work with multi-ethnic survivors 

• Demonstrated knowledge of contributing factors to gender-based violence among African Americans and other survivors of color, and best practices in addressing their needs to bring about equitable outcomes 

• Attend continued education training in advocacy-based DV counseling for victims and their children 

• Experience working with communities of color and people from different cultures than your own. 

• Ability to Identify and understand the broader context of a situation 

• Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and take the initiative.

• Demonstrated organizational and outreach skills 

• Good verbal and written skills.

• Available for some evening and weekend hours 

• Missouri or Illinois State driver's license and insurance are required upon employment; must be able to travel independently to outreach events if warranted.

 

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management, or Social Work OR 2 or more years of non-profit management or domestic violence experience in an operational environment.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

• Must have completed training in the Dynamics of Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse 101; Understanding Trauma & Sexual Assault or agree to complete within three months of hire if there is no former training. 

• Must be willing to train on technical software for educational training.

• Background check completed
